We are people who put our faith into action believing that faith is not just something you think but something you live. We are not perfect--not even close. We don't agree on everything. We live in the grace and forgiveness of God. We believe that God overcomes our differences and calls us to live in his ways, to seek peace and justice, to live the abundant life of joy and love. "Conversations with Jesus." What would you ask Jesus if you were taking a long walk with him?  The disciples and others had this opportunity as they traveled with Jesus from place to place.  The book of Luke describes how Jesus taught them as they walked along, answering questions and challenging them in teachable moments. Pastor Clayton Libolt uses these conversations to answer our questions and teach us what matters to Jesus.  This week's message is on the parables of the lost sheep, the lost coin, the lost son, and the dishonestr manager.  All of these stories are a bit unsettling but illustrate how Jesus' followers are not a predictable lot.

Child Care (0-4) during both services. Children's Worship (age 5-6) during 11:15 am worship. Sunday School meets 10:15 to 11:00 am.

6:00 PM - Vespers Service

We will continue a series of messages looking at Paul's teaching in his first letter to the church in Corinth. This week, Pastor Koops will bring a message from I Corinthians 15. 




 

 

Congregational Survey

As we consider what God is calling us to for the future, we need your input.  If you are unable to attend the Congregational Forums on January 31, February 7, and February 14, we encourage you to fill out the attached 7-question Congregational Survey.  Please download the document, save it, and send it by email (as an attachment) to ann@riverterrace.org.  You may also print it off and mail it or bring it to the church office.  If you mail it or drop it off, please put it in a sealed envelope with your name on it so we know who has completed the survey.  Your answers will remain anonymous.  You may also click on this link to surveymonkey to answer a shorter 3-question version of the survey.  Thank you for responding!

Faith and Medicine

Dr. Ruth Groenhout, Professor of Philosophy at Calvin College, a Christian liberal arts school, in Grand Rapids, Michigan will give three lectures addressing places where faith and medicine intersect.

"Care, Justice, and Medicine"  Thursday Noon at MSU, C102 East Fee

"Medical Dilemmas:  Care and Technology"  Thursday 7:30 pm at River Terrace Church,  corner of Hagadorn Road and River Terrace Drive.

"Medical Technology at the Margins of Life"  Friday Noon at MSU, Spartan Room C, International Center.

Wednesday Dinners

On Wednesday nights from September through April, River Terrace offers low-cost, good quality dinners.  Wednesday dinners are a time to foster community spirit and simplify lives for those who want to participate in Wednesday programs at the church.

Dinner Menu for February 10: Pork tenderloin or Macaroni and Cheese, herbed redskin potatoes, green beans, a huge salad bar, rolls, and your choice of dessert.
