Connections

Community Life Small Groups

We encourage and invite you to be in a Community Life Group during Lent. There will be groups of four to ten people meeting together to share some food and dig deeper into God's Word together. The discussion questions will be related to the upcoming sermon in the Lenten sermon series, Simply the Gospel. Use the registration form below to sign up. You will then be contacted by phone call or email from Becky Cox inviting you to a group. We are also looking for individuals who are willing to serve as facilitators "opening their home" and providing the coffee or lemonade. The discussion questions based on the sermon are popular and will be available to you online (under Bible Study Guides). This next season of small groups will run from February 17 through April 3.

We suggest using the Guide with a focus on next Sunday's sermon to be better prepared to hear the message.  That means using the Guide during the week prior to the date of the Guide.

Community Life Groups

Are you looking for ways to connect with others at River Terrace?  to connect with God? to connect with your own soul?

Small group Bible studies (Community Life Groups) are a great way to make new connections and renew previous relationships, to grow spiritually, and to recommit ourselves to the Lord. Everyone should feel that they belong to the family of God and be equipped to live as followers of Jesus.

How can I sign up? Register online by clicking here on Small Group Registration which will take you to the registration form.  We will help in connecting you to a group.

What will the groups do? We encourage groups to share food and conversation and spend time in scripture study and prayer. The small groups will decide their own schedule (days and frequency) for meeting together. They should decide what they want to study and discuss. They may choose to follow the sermon series and use the discussion questions that are provided, or they may choose another Bible study or book for discussion.  During Lent, we encourage groups to use the Bible Study Guides related to the Lenten sermon series.

Who will facilitate the group? We expect that in each group, there will be volunteers who will help facilitate or host your group. The Small Groups Ministry Team will assist with providing facillitators and hosts.

What if I have other questions? If you have additional questions, please contact Pastor Delianne at 351-9059 or delianne@riverterrace.org

Pastoral Care Districts

As River Terrace Church has grown it has become more and more challenging for the Council and staff to minister adequately to individual members.  Pastoral Care at RTC has taken many forms over the years.  With the reorganization of the Council from 26 to 12 elders and deacons, it became imperative that pastoral care be reorganized as well.

Goals of Pastoral Care

Know the flock ~ each person at RTC will know and be known by his/her Pastoral Care Giver and by the church leadership.

Pray for the flock ~ each person at RTC will be prayed for.

Bring the flock together ~ each person at RTC will belong to a group in which he/she will find welcome, friendship, support, encouragement, spiritual nurture, and opportunities for service.

Strengthen the flock ~ each person at RTC will receive care and counsel during difficult times in their lives.

Bind up the wounded ~ each person at RTC will receive loving care and support in time of crisis.

Search for the lost and bring back the strays ~ no person will leave the fellowship of RTC without being noticed, contacted, and if appropriate, encouraged to return.

The Pastoral Care Program is comprised of four geographic regions headed by Regional Coordinators with an elder and a deacon assigned to each region.  Within each region are three districts and within each district are three to five groups with a Pastoral Care Giver responsible for each group.

Pastoral Care Regional Elders & Deacons

Northeast Region Coordinator:  Judie Vander Galien; Elder:  Gary DeVries; Deacon:  Linda Slopsema
