Welcome to River Terrace. Today is Pentecost, the day on which the church celebrates the outpouring of the Spirit. The story, should you wish to read it over before the service, is found in Acts 2:1-4. We begin today a series of messages based on the epistle passages from the Revised Common Lectionary. The lectionary is a set of readings that include for each Sunday a psalm and one passage each from the Old Testament, the New Testament Epistles, and the Gospels. Following the lectionary connects us with churches all over the world that are reading and thinking about the same passages. Today’s passage from Romans 8 tells us that “those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God.” So today we invite God’s children to our service, including you. This is a great honor.
