Suggested items for Christmas shoebox donations

You Are Invited!

Breaking Bread is again partnering this Christmas with Refuge Development Center in Lansing to fill as many shoeboxes for local refugee children as RTC can provide. Each Sunday in October, there will be a display table in the gathering space for gifts and donations.

On Saturday, November 10, at 1:00 PM, come to our Packing Party in the fellowship hall, where we will be filling the shoeboxes. We will mark each box Boy or Girl and age group: 2-4, 5-7, 8-10, and 11-14 yrs. old.

Some suggested items: (new and shoebox size)

  • winter hats, gloves, mittens, scarves
  • toys (nothing violent)
  • stuffed animals
  • small dolls
  • balls
  • mini cars
  • magnets
  • stickers
  • play-doh and clay
  • marbles
  • card games
  • playing cards
  • travel-sized games
  • puzzles
  • blocks
  • real Legos (Older kids know)
  • projects to build
  • activity books and boxes
  • water colors
  • finger paints
  • craft products and kits
  • temporary tattoos
  • books and board books
  • “brain teasers”
  • hair accessories
  • beads
  • T-shirts and socks
  • movie and gift cards (for 11-14 yrs)
  • Donations to use as needed (Early October is best.)
  • any other appropriate items
